I'm working a half-dozen or so E'Wave projects right now; they are not all mine.
I got those L55s for free from a local LH forum pal several years ago, saving them from the landfill. They're a bit too small, but are nicely portable for experimental work, and despite how they look, they kick ASS!

There are plenty of resources for building stuff in yard sales and thrift stores. I paid $4 for my Large Advent cabs, for example, and an AK member sent me a masonite woofer for "Research." I found another one locally, had them both refoamed; an instant project gets underway.... :thmbsp:

Got my pair of Jack's v.1 crossovers etched and ready for parts -- soon as I get a small drill bit.
I used a combo of blacklight and flourescent lights, since I have little access to the sun...LOL.
I screwed up a couple of boards by leaving one in the developer too long, another not long enough.
Result: So much more compact than my breadboards.

Good looking crossover PC's. You did a great job, and can be really proud of your self made professional looking crossovers.
Don't throw those screwed up boards away. Cleaning, and application of the negative photo resist will render them usable again. I have a few like that as well.

Yes, I have a pair of HED-15 that might be great for Wavin'.. about 100db efficient... I think I am going to give them a listen... (surrounds have been replaced)

Hi All 
I recently sold a pair of Dynaco A25XL's to forum member BmWr75 and he mentioned this project. As I already had a pair of Radian 475PB-8 drivers and a Behringer DCX-2496 I figured, what the heck, let's try it.
I have a pair of New Large Advents, so I've placed the waveguide on top for initial testing. I'm not very knowledgeable with regard to speaker measuring and active crossover setup, but I've learned a bunch reading the first 70 pages of this thread, so far :nerd:
So, microphone 1 meter from speaker, in line with the tweeter, using TrueRTA and limiting bass to 200 hz I've managed to get a smooth response (+/- ~ 2.5 db) with minimal effort. I am letting the Advent inductor do it's thing on the woofer, and I played with crossover point and phase on the waveguide. A bit of EQ, too, but I can't recall just now exactly where or how much.
I am stunned at how good these sound :ntwrthy: I notice an ease, seems like the sound just flows out of them. Clarity like I've never heard, too. Hard not to get a little carried away with the volume. The waveguide also seems to elevate the performance of the woofer, too. Very nice bass now coming from those boxes !
So, big thanks to Zilch and all who have contributed !! I'll be back when I get stuck, if ya'll don't mind.
Next up, try it on my Altec Model 19's. Here's the adapter kit. Nice to have access to a water jet:

I think you'll be the first to Econowave a model 19, sure you'll be impressed.

Hey Cosmos, I think those would make kick ass Ewaves. I think that CV woof goes up to 2000hz so it is a perfect woof and at 100db, you would not need a lot of power to drive them. it's too bad I could not light up my ESS Ewave when you were here, they sound great. Cheers.

There has been some talk about the difference between mylar diaphragms as used in BMS drivers and titanium as used in the Seleniums selected for the EconoWave. Some few posts ago (maybe a couple hundred or more) Zilch mentioned maybe using the spray on Quiet Kote VB-15 Pro from Parts Express to simulate the AquaPlas coatings used by JBL on the diaphragms of some of their higher priced HF drivers.
After selling a pot load of Trusonic components, spending a few of those dollars to see if the Selenium diaphragms could be made a bit more "laid back" like the BMS drivers seemed like a good project. A pair of D220Ti diaphragms were ordered, but only one looked to be near the original equipment specs. The second may need some massaging of it's voice coil, which has a steep fall off in FR about 10 KHz.
The best spare diaphragm was coated with one coat of Quiet Kote, and another FR was taken. The results of looking at the coating was not one of total satisfaction, since a few edges looked to be just barely covered. Another coat was applied, which covered everything evenly, and another FR was taken. The three FR readings are shown in the picture. The first coat made some fairly significant changes in the upper end of the range, but the second coat didn't make nearly as big a difference overall. I tried to leave all the control settings, especially the volume control of the amplifier, at the same settings, but inadvertently moved the volume at one point. So much for science. At any rate, the setting for the last FR was close, so the progression of the reduction in upper ranges is probably pretty close to accurate.
I need to let it dry overnight to be sure it is totally cured before listening to it, but it has cured for about 6 hours at this time, and probably won't change any more. It will be compared to a stock D220Ti after being compensated some more to get the upper end back close to flat. That may take some time, but it will be good to see if the "in your face" characteristics of titanium can be cured somewhat.

2) When Rob did JBLs with Aquaplas, there was a 1 dB reduction in SPL, uniform across the spectrum.

Yes it was about 1db across the board. What is Quite Coat?? Is that the stuff they use for the door panels?? Is it hard or soft when it cures?? When I did mine it was brushed on. The agua is too heavy to spray without a heavy coating sprayer an airbrush just won't due.
