Oh my goodness...those are some beautiful units!

I'm a sucker for those huge lighted dials.

Enjoy!

Best,

John

Ah, man...beautiful. I've had my eye on one of those for a long time. I think they're possibly the best looking of all the stereo gear that's ever been made.

I have to agree, the 399 is on my list of best looking receivers of all time. I've had my eye out for a 399 for a long time and totally lucked into these. I'm thrilled to have an original wood case as well.

I think this is one of a few instances where the wood case is absolutely essential...with it, beautiful, without it, ugly. The way the angled wood meets the edges...really classy looking.

Agreed, the beveled edge treatment as opposed to the Marantz brow is pure class.:thmbsp:

I fired up the case-less 399 and aside from scratchy controls, it works nicely with a wonderful tube sound. The Magic Eye tubes are good.

This is making me want to get my Scott tube tuner fixed. It has that same type of tuning dial, but doesn't look nearly as cool or classy as the 399. (but it is maroon..so that's kind of cool). Congrats again on two very fine receivers. I remember being kind of surprised by how big the one I saw was...they're so well proportioned that they look smaller in pictures.

I'm a Fisher nut, but I want a Scott 399 really bad. Those are absolutely beautiful, there's not another receiver out there that looks like a Scott 399. Congrats on snagging two of them!
