and yes 5000$ start without speakers for 20 years old units. I think, seller is now able to find anything better for the start price replacing them all if these yet are not vintage spares of him too look at the beauty. Collectors item rather than listeners. A bid war reaching to 12.000$? :yes: it really worths to get one of the most beautiful engineering in history.

v-fet yamaha b-1 or these to better the sound for 5000$ ? :banana:

I can sell my 7 years old xa7es and buy a 20 years old yamaha cdplayer for twice the 3x price of xa7es. Himmm Krell300?, yes I can sell a Wadia 850 to be able to buy the cdplayer also paying the shipment and taxes.

If I can find 1800$ more, selling my 5650, I can also bid for the amp. Or I can use 10 x 5650 in paralel, or can costract 8+1 vfet hometheatre, and the last one for only to look at.

To be able to buy speakers, I must sell a JM lab Grand Utopia and upgrade to yamaha.:scratch2:

Not trying to start anything here but I just have to say this. That's an assumption that obviously isn't shared by everyone here. These are not just "gee wiz, wow that's cool!" components. Since we are sharing our opinions I would argue that most of the "ancient analog" pieces you are referring to wouldn't hold a candle to the sound of these pieces- again just my opinion. If you want ACCURATE, un-colored and transparent sound I personally would indeed consider these the "Holy Grail". If you want your sound to be colored with a certain "warmthness" then you would probably prefer something else. But THESE pieces are the REAL DEAL and they really are "that nice" and more. Believe you me, if I had that much cash to spend I would be all over it. Best of luck to those of you who can swing it and if an AKer gets it PLEASE indulge us with lots of pictures and details as to their performance!

Au contraire. It is about as nice as nice gets. Obviously, the CDX-10000 is digital. It is, afterall, a CDP. The other two are analog. However, the CX-10000 does have a DAC built-in. The amp and rest of the preamp are 100% analog.
 
Good luck for everyone bidding. Wonderfull products from history and I respect engineering quality and all labor of such products by human being that will more probably not repeat again, like an historical ancient place with cost no thing and we are still luckily able to see these in our lifetimes, not only pictures, and we are even able to listen to them. All the last works, mods, happiness, joy, sharings, sentences, current websites relating to these and books resulting, will be only things available 100 years later, only papers, pictures. And we, the ones touching them, working on them.
 
Hmm... maybe these WILL last a 100 years, I heard something about that Yamaha still carry spear parts for this special line and there is only 80 to go.
 
The MX-10000 beats any amp and of course all the amps made by Yamaha, past and present, my friend in Europe paid Euro 9000 for mint condition MX-10000, he put them on his NS-2000 speakers, he also bid and won CDX-10000 for Euro 6000 and now is busy bidding for a CX-10000 and NSX-10000, the CX-10000 has the sweetest DAC ever built period. Man this is as close to audio Nirvana as one can get.

Price of kidneys can't buy us the MX series, 3rd world countries have ruined the human kidney market sadly.
 
Hey, I am kidding only and except for respect to construction and enginering, preserving right of units on this and preserving rights of seller on this collection item, I never buy 20 years old things for 10000$ units or a 9000euro speaker for *listening* purposes. Cdplayer itself sounds only as good as 500$ player now and usable only as transport. It is 20 years old DAC in use. I never sell my 7 years old still worthing 800-900$ xa7 player and buy yamaha, xa7 still has one of the best transports ever, never fails. Amplifier are more sutiable for listening when priced well and preamp may worth to use. Try listening extreme speakers and usual new good amps of todays costing the same price and see how restricted and distorsive the old speakers are or uncontrolled and musically slow the amplifiers are. For 7k used new setup, you beat everything old and for listening purposes this serie including speakers too worth an 2k and with risk of damage on parts. You will get 0,8k dac, and 1k cabling, so that system can still play as good as 5k.
 
They are awesome components- I've played with the CD player back in 1990/1 and it was just beautiful. We didn't hook it up to anything as the owner didn't want the RCA jacks scratched by cheap interconnects! You have to wonder though, if you has those components- what would be the point with having anything else? They would be hifi hobby killers and all the other gear would have to go. You know if everyone put in $5 we could buy the lot and give it to one lucky AK'er through a lottery.
