Just thought I'd show off my latest goodwill find. DLK 2's in great shape. The grills were missing a piece of trim that goes across the top. I replaced it with a painted piece of oak trim I had laying around. Turned out pretty good, I thought. If anyone has a pic of what the trim was supposed to look like I would appreciate the info. I removed the metal plate that was over the mid and tweeters....didn't really care for the look and the metal grills seemed to sound worse with them over the drivers. I also recapped the crossovers which helped open them up.

Overall, they sound great, articulate but the bottom end can be a bit heavy depending on the recording. They have replaced my HPM-100's in my main setup if that says anything about how good they sound. There are plenty of threads regarding these speakers if anyone wants to know more.

Wow! Those are nice Cro! I've never heard them before, but I have heard that they sound real good.

I passed on a set of these last year at a pawn shop, but they were in rough shape, and the owner wouldn't budge on a high price.

I have heard they are fine sounding speakers.

Nice looking setup, btw.
 
Those are very different from the DLK 2's I have. Same drivers, but the midrange has DLK on it, and the tweeter is set higher and the port is below it. The drivers are set back into the frame as well with a foam grille.

I wonder if it sounds different?

Thanks Geespot. Any chance you could post a pic. I figure it is the same metal as this? The wife doesn't care for my homemade trim piece on the grills.

The build quality of these cabs is amazing. I sure wasn't expecting them to weigh as much as they do.

The other speaker does have DLK on the dust cap, but not this one. But I compared the drivers and they exactly the same. The serial numbers are pretty far apart, so that may be why. These may be early 2's. Got a pic of yours dew?
 
Once the batteries are recharged, I'll post some pics of my 3's. The trim is thin black metal with the words DLK/3 on the very left side of the piece.

A Spanish market by me has a pair of 1 1/2 they must use. I may stop in to see if they would trade for some Cerwin Vega's I have.

Mine are disassembled for a restore. Completion set for late 2008. :) I have not even listened to them yet since they arrived with bad pots. I have some Peerless tweeters I plan to drop in and Dayton polypros for replacement.

Understood. I tried swapping in some SEAS tweeters from some Boston Acoustics A-100's (dropped right in BTW) but didn't like the sound compared to the originals. Go figure.

Nope, seems I took a about a year off without even noticing it. Time flies when you're working I guess and with a new baby around.

But I'm back for good and it sure feels good.:yes:

Today found a pair of DLK 3's at a trift for $49. The Woofs had been replaced with a pair of MTX Woofers. Douh!
