The LE14H also has a slightly longer voice coil winding (roughly 3/4" long, as opposed to roughly 5/8" long for the LE14A). That'll give the LE14H a little more output capacity, at low frequencies.
The cone itself is acoustically equivalent. As long as you replace in pairs, it's certainly OK to retrofit the H for the A, IME. There are small differences, but so small, that it's probably not going to be noticeable even to someone who's intimately familiar with the cabinet...

A vs. H
Gordon, I know you are an expert, but I strongly believe that the A and H have identical cone/VC's. It is the LE14H-1 that has a longer coil/xmax.
I have owned and used quite a few LE14's in my time. I will say that the LE14H's generally outperform the LE14A's mainly because of the demag issues wrt AlNiCo vs. the ceramic SFG types.
The LE14H and the LE14H-1 are identical performers up to about the 650hz region according to a well known LFHS speaker guy, where the H-1 rolls off naturally and the LE14H coninues to have better response up to about 1khz+.
Chances are that if you have LE14A's, you've got a demag problem. I use Ferrite/Ceramic woofers now. In my personal experience, that is the best way to go unless you recone and remag an LE14a pair, and then carefully control the power you input into them for their whole life, or have very high sensitivity woofers that never see high current input. I have A-B'ed side by side L220 pairs. Very nice LE14A's in one pair, LE14h's in the other. Although not with completely scientific lab test controls in place, I could tell the H's performed better at the extreme LF region.
