This one's for the technically-savvy AK members. In collaboration with my thread in the TOL forum, I thought it would be kind of useful and interesting if AK members posted their nominal AC line voltage at the outlet where they listen. My area has pretty frequent dips and sags in voltage this time of year, and it just really occured to me that the supply voltage is a HUGE factor when it comes to system performance.

DISCLAIMER: If you are not handy with electricity or don't know how to operate a meter, please don't attempt the measurement. I wouldn't want AK or myself to be liable if anything were to happen.

Hmm, it would be interesting if people also posted their city and state. Then we could see if any trends appear.

As for me, I've got 127V in Brooklyn, NY. I havent lost anything yet to it, although CFLs die sooner than they should (possibly for other reasons).

EDIT: I'm dumb, I just realized people put their location in their profiles anyways. So much for my brilliant insight.
 
At home on the west side of Los Angeles 117, I have a weekend place in the local mountains and there 124 -125.
 
On the supply side of my Power conditioner it's 121-122V on the system side it is 120-121V every time I look at the meter. Hydro power tends to be pretty stable.
 
You're lucky to have hydro power, Mark. I'm almost certain that NYC uses coal and natural gas. Nuclear starts too many fights.

Just checked again, and I have 114VAC which seems odd, since demand usually goes down at night. No AC running, FWIW.

I'm in the 2nd-southernmost part of NY state, check out my Frappr map. It appears that Staten Island holds the record for southernmost areas. Maybe the power here is a little more touchy than the NYC mainland?
 
Mine typically runs 126-128V, higher in the summer, down to 122-124 in the winter.

Well, according to ConEd, a good 85% of the power they produce comes from turbines in the East River. Of course, they buy many times more power than they produce, so the its a completely moot point.
 
Mine can go from 111 on a Friday afternoon in the summer to 129 in a fall evening. It heavily depends on the local demand.
