I just picked up this old "Pioneer" (or rather Pioneer drivers in a horrible DIY enclosure) for free, just half an hour ago:

The drivers all work, as well as the crossover, but I have no idea of what this has been originally. Any ideas? I'd love to know a little more about it.

I just wish I had its mate :tears: I guess I'm just gonna use the drivers for some DIY stuff of my own, at least it's got two identical tweeters. I would use it for a mono system, if it wasn't for the fact that the damned enclosure is resonating like hell at about 30Hz. It's literately walking around on its own when you go over 10W.

Looks like the drivers are from the CS-Axx series. Here's a pic of the insides of a CS-A31:

I found this picture on a local auction site; the seller claims it are the internals of a pioneer cs-88. The woofer and filter look very similar to what you show.

Wow, I'd be looking for a mate for that ASAP! Then rebuild the box you've got to match the box you find.

Got to be CS-A50.

I picked a pair up this week-end. They cleaned up pretty nice. They sound real good. playing Johnny Cash.

I'm going to put new grills on them. Does any one have any good ideas where I can get some material? T

After I get my SX-1500TD fixed up I'll have total sound from 1969.
 
I would like to have a pair of those guts to put in my empty 1968 Pioneer speakers. Yessir!

They are! Even nicer in person, that front grill cover is absolutely stunning. That's why I kept 'em. I found them for free on CL, thought it had the original drivers. Nope, only thing left in them original were the squawkers and the DN-5 crossovers. I traded the crossovers for a 1964 Realistic tube tuner. In any case, these enclosures are in my storage area awaiting appropriate drivers.

Thanks Joe, Considering I picked 'em up for 10, 18 for new covers isn't bad. The drivers are good. One squawker was repaired still sounds good. I'll get some pictures out.
