45-based SET: Twin Cities collaboration in progress

Ejfud's woodworking skills have completed phase 2 of my amp build. Redboy kept taunting me with his amp building skills, so he helped put together a design that appeals to me - basically the JE Labs Simple 45 SET, tube rectified.

We have all of the parts - Electraprint OPT's, Hammond PT and choke, a nice pair of 45's. The plate was cut and I took it to my trusty powder coater. Then off to Gary for his wizardly woodshop ways. Base is clear maple with a curly front. I pick it up tomorrow, put a finish on it, then off to Nate for final assembly.

If you twin cities guys ever have a get together let me know, I'm only 170 miles east. You've all got cool stuff!
 
yep, it does!

I'll run some pictures of it in situ this weekend. I run it with a highly modified Bottlehead Foreplay III into my Cornwalls, usually with a Sony PS1 as a cdp but more recently with my Dynaco FM3 tuner. The combination is fairly magical on the local low powered, zero compression jazz station.

I do have some minor maintenance to perform to drop B+ a bit and have the parts on hand.

I don't know the math here, but going with a PP scheme to double (?) your power doesn't seem like a worthwhile exercise. Seems to me you're better off accepting the limited power output of the tube and building the rest of the system to accomodate that.

I might be all wet. Someone will correct me if I'm totally off base.
