Hi all,

This is my first post on AK! I just lucked into this table today for about the cost of a subway sandwich.

I did need to swap out the cart as the Shure RXT-4 that was attached had a broken stylus, but after attaching the goldring elektra (with an lpgear HE stylus) that used to live on my mmf 2.1 i have to say i'm pretty shocked.

i had always thought Sanyo was crud! this table may very well sound better then the mmf 2.1 it's perched above!

does anyone else have any experience with this table?

by the way if anyone has any info on the table i'd love to hear it. after some intense searching i haven't been able to find out much about it.

No personal experience, but Sanyo did make some fine turntables. Also, the RXT-4 is a rebadged M97ED and can accept the ED or HE stylus from lpgear. It's a very good cartridge.

I found a TP-1020 in a dusty box that belonged to my father... He claims to have purchased it in 1975...

It had some generic broken cartridge... I've purchased the Goldring Elektra with some help from static14...

I also bought Let It Be and Abbey Road by the Beatles... Made sure I am buying old records (before 1975).

It sounds amazing :) Though the volume is a little weak (when setting my JVC receiver to max it sounds loud when it should blow the speakers away) and there's some noise because the records are scratched...

if you have to crank the volume all the way I don't think you're receiver has a built in preamp. what input are you running the turntable to?

also that little plastic guard with the finger lift is on the wrong side of the headshell. It is supposed to ride on the top of the headshell.
 
I just picked up one of these turntables as part of a job lot of components. It's a bit ratty looking, but it works, so if anyone needs one for spares let me know.
