ANOTHER killer auction near Philly

Those Altec cabinets on the top row look familiar.

If anyone goes, I want a crack at that Arcturus 27. :D

The Altec 412C has either been reconed with non-altec parts, or isn't an altec speaker at all.

I'd love to spend an afternoon flipping thru the vintage electronics mags.

I wonder if it was a collector or was it an old store or repair shop that closed down with lots of stuff. a lot of it is in the boxes. I just checked the zip code from mine. only an hour drive. 48 miles each way.

To me it seems like old stock from a repair store, could be someone bought the estate, storage locker and decided to sell it. The quality isn't there if it was a collector or it could be a collector thinning out the parts/project pile. I think we will only know if you go :D Ok we are starting a vote who ever wants JBM to go say I...oh don't forget the camera :D

anybody know what kind of altecs they are? Its not too far from me so i was planning to take a drive. anyone else going?

"vintage electronic components,

four decades of service and repair,

the estate of downingtown based romig electronics"

I would guess the Altec on the left is a 601 or 602. The speaker on the right is a Weathers, more famous for their TTs and tonearms in the dawn of stereo.

With the way he has one of each kind of speaker. It makes me wounder if these were brought in for repair and ether they were repaired and the owners didn't like the price tag or He charged to look at things and they didnt want to pick them up because of the estamit fee.

The box on the right is NOT Altec. It may or may not have Altec internals, it might even have something better like a Stephens Tru-sonic.

The box on the left IS Altec and looks to have a cut out for a 15 inch driver, it could have been used to house a 602, 603, 604, 605, or a 419 if the vintage of the load matches that of the box.

I'm glad I'm too far away. I'd either go bankrupt or become frustrated... But for a recent lottery-winner, that auction would be a lot of fun!
:D

Well now... I'm right around the corner AND I have off work Friday! How did you see the pics of what is offered?

I saw the add but didn't see any pics or links to pics of what they are offering.

Little help here....

Cheers,
Bob
