Just purchased an older Luxman R1040. Thought I'd use it to run the smaller jbl's in my bdrm. Only $40.00. Hey I'm sorta amazed..... this thing sounds pretty darned good to me. Anybody have any info/thoughts on this model?

I think Luxman stuff is very cool. A friend of mine owns a vintage integrated amp, a tuner, and a receiver. Can't recall the model numbers.

Some people refer to Luxman as the 'McIntosh of Japan'

How about a photo?

Yeh! I also have this receiver. It is one of my best sounding receivers that challenges the HK430. It is rated some 40W per channel. I got it restored too.

I am still using my Luxman 1070 receiver as a tuner and subwoofer amp. It has given me great service. Sometimes the meter lamps have to be replaced which is very easy to do. Enjoy!

I have one but the dial lamps are out. Does anyone know what the replacement bulbs are?
Also, the red LED for FM signal strength stays dark. What is this indicator actually indicating?

The light for the signal strength and center tuning are 12V 70mA miniature light bulb that could be found at MCM Electronics part catalog number 25-150. The red LED indicates a stereo FM broadcast.

Sorry, I was also referring to the 1040. There is a LED light to the right of the Stereo one that signifies FM signal strenth in lieu of a meter. Mine remains unlit along with the one center meter and entire tuning dial. I beleive there are two lamps on the side with leads? The meter bullb probally is the same as the one you mention for the 1070. Nice medium powered receiver with not particularly detailed, but lush tube-like sound.

Luxman R10-40

I have read several accounts about the Luxman R-10-40 reciever and the control light bulbs not working. Apparently, replacement bulbs are difficult to find, although I personally haven't tried to find them. One suggestion I will offer to those looking for replacement bulbs is, before looking, check and make sure all of the fuses inside are good. I've had the same problem of bulbs being out and a new fuse got them working again. Just a suggestion.

The Luxman 10X0 receivers are very nice; sweet, rich sound with a classic, elegant appearance. What's not to like? The similar big brother 1050 was one of the first receivers I got, and it's still a favorite.

Congratulations! :thmbsp: :music:

I have a 1030. I love it. I paid like $50 or so for it. Worth every penny. Currently I'm not getting any Highs out of the left channel of the phono stage, so it's benched. There's a thread on it. I'm gonna have to recap the phono stage. Never done it before. I hope I don't end up with a 1030 for parts.
