"Howard's Restore" on the Dynaco A-35

This is my first attempt at improving the looks of one of my sets, the Dynaco A-35. The original finish was probably teak. I used the second to lightest color available, the Maple/Pine. In retrospect, the "Neutral" would have worked better, as the scratches are showing kind of dark. A definite improvement, the finish isn't as dull and the stain brought out the grain some. Probably 1.5 hours total for the pair. I used 0000 and wiped with cheesecloth.

These A-35s have a paper-thin veneer on particle board, so there isn't the option of sanding down. It is either this or just a plain oil. Others may have better ideas.

I'd like to hear if anyone has cleaned the cloth on the grilles. The grille frames are flimsy particle board strips, they may not hold up to any kind of soak.

I bought a used pair of ADS with messed-up grill cloth. All tips welcome.

Recently I did Howards Restor on all my ADS (three pair)... happy I did. Cherry is what I picked as it looked lighter than the walnut. All three looked better thereafter. Then I used feed and wax. I might go back and try some of the more expensive wax to try to get some gloss (but not much if I can help it). Howards is a good product for someone like me who will not ever attempt to sand.

Looks very nice Luckie, what about some of the foam cleaners and a vacuum for cleaning the grills.
