Usually, I have the receiver and no docs. Now I have the docs but no 16.5. Hmmm. I'll have to correct that. THANKS BULLY.

Fifafifa,

Welcome to AK. Make yourself comfortable, stick around - AK a great place!

Since it's your first post, I know nothing about you except you have a piece of gear that doesn't work: You may be a professional tech or you may be just a regular guy (like me!) with some broken gear. My advice would therefore be general - it would apply to any scarce, out of production, and valuable piece of electronics.

I am assuming that you have done all the no-brainers: Checked connections, speaker/headphone and input controls, (do the meters/stereo light operate if you select tuner and connect an antenna?),etc. Unless you are a trained professional tech, I would not do anything but perhaps deoxite all the controls (do a search here), and even that only if you have a certain level of aptitude and inclination. If not, bring it to a tech - there are no repairs you can do in there unless you're trained for it, do not even crack the top. Need a tech recommendation in your town? Let us know where you live, and someone will chime in. Not inclined to have it fixed? Post the 16.5 on Classifieds here, and you may find good demand here.

You're the curator of this piece now - it is an extraordinary receiver, and it needs to be taken properly care of. Others will undoubtedly chime in, as well.

fifafifa, the 16.5 is the best receiver I've had the pleasure to hear. I had a decent collection of TOTL receivers when I got the 16.5. All of those receivers have found new homes.
The 16.5, IMO, is perhaps the best receiver, combining great sound with great power output, an excellent 5-gang tuner, and a very good phono section and preamp section. At the least, it is as good as the best and better than the rest.

Baaahhh-waaah boo hoo

I cannot find my CD-R of the schematics, etc. Looked high, now I'll look low. Dayyum.

I found my CD-R!!! Of course it was in the last pile I had to look through.
So it really was in the last place I had to look. LOL
I got my copy of the owners manual from Richard Schram himself. Great guy, and doubly so for his kind answers to so many of our questions. Thanks Njord!!

Any way we could get the cover pages added for download either with the original document or separately? Gotta have the purty pictures. Besides, it will make a great spotter's guide.

Regards,

Bart

EDIT: I have uploaded new versions of the 16.5 Owner's Manual and 16.5 brochure so that they now have their full front pages.

Rgds,

Hi NN,

Thanks for the updates to the 16.5. However, I couldn't get access to the Receiver line brochure, says "Forbidden access to this server". Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Bart

4.5 Owner's Manual and Schematic added.

We have added the following documents to the Concept manual database:
  • Concept 4.5 Owner's Manual
  • Concept 4.5 Schematics

Note that schematics for Concept receivers are extremely hard to come by, so this is a great find.

This is how I got hold of these files, FYI: A 4.5 was up for auction over at the Big Board. The original manual was part of the sale. I contacted the seller, on a whim and with no real hope, asking if he could provide me with a copy of the documentation. To make a longer story short, three days later the scans were mailed to my house! Now that's what I call service. It may interest you that the service-minded seller was one of those consignment stores - specifically Uconsignit in Claremont, California.

I have no other affiliation with the seller, but think that he definitely deserve to get some good feedback!

All the best,

Thanks to 78_towncar_4 (and Njord Noatun)

Finally have documentation for my Concept 11.0 -- 175 watts into 4 ohms!! Wow!!
