Best Video Processor I Have Ever Seen

Yesterday, I began to upgrade my Video section. I installed this Lumagen Processor, it is better than my $25K Faroudja DVP-5000

At a cost of $2000 it is nothing short of remarkable. On DVD's it produces 3 frames for each film frame. 3D film is the result.

It has every conceivable output including the little known SDI out, which stands for Serial Data Interface & blows away HDMI. :yes:

I will still A-B it to the VP-1000, but I'm afraid it won't even be close. :tears:

Better than the Farouja? Wow!

It is hard to believe ANHTHING could be better than your Farouja. It must be really incredible, based on my mind blowing experience a few weeks ago.
At $2000, that seems almost too good to be true.

Hi Jim,

I know, I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. We are talking a very noticable improvement, not a small one either.

My ISF Video Tech showed up with it, thinking I would want to keep it. :thmbsp:

No, it will work on any video display device. Simply amazing! :yes:

Want to hear something cool, from the remote you can punch in the output resolution you want to view like selecting a channel from satellite. You want 1080P, just punch it in or store it in memory!

Ron,

Video is truly stunning, the real treat is how it handles fast motion on screen. No artifacts, zero jaggies & super smooth 3D action. Like, I've never seen before.

I understand that Lumagen has proprietary technology & a super product with zero marketing.

Sounds like a Company I would like to take over! :yes:

P.S. Star Wars never looked this good, ever!

My ISF Video Tech just showed up with it yesterday while we were playing with the Kaleidscape DVD server.

Once in my System, it wasn't leaving! :yes:
 
I thought for sure I was going to read this thread from Masterlu saying how INCREDIBLE the new Macintosh Video processor is and just pass it off as another hypnotized customer who knows nothing about video or audio...I was wrong.

I have been reviewing video scalers for about 10 years now, you can go to the AVS forums and search under the same name ericbee or even those audio review sites.

I was a faroudja fan about 7 years ago but, they have been resting on their name and reputation for over 10 years, so many better products out there than Faroudja scalers at 1/10 the price. Masterlu if you are reading this, dump the Faroudja fast but, you wont get much for it.

That said, the Lumagen is one of the best scalers on the market at any price. I was considering a Lumagen but instead purchased a Crystallio II but, you can find features and flaws that exist in both.

To people unfamiliar with the video side of things, Masterlu is correct, the difference between having a video scaler in the mix or not is night and day and not subtle. The better scalers have extremely advanced algorithyms and infinite timing, and porch settings to get pixel for pixel/dot for dot scaling from any source.

I have already commented on what I feel we will see from Mcintosh with regards to their scaler but, suffice it to say that I would bet a dime to a dollar that the Lumagen at 1/5 the price will at the very least be equal but, in most likelihood far better than what Mcintosh will produce.

We shall see, enjoy the Lumagen it is a really nice piece.
 
So I could use this unit between my DVD player and my 1080p DLP TV? Or between my HD tivo and my 1080p DLP TV and it will dramatically improve the picture?

Thanks for your input, I have already sold the DVP-5000 & will still get the VP-1000. In fact I should have it any day now.

Tons of inputs on the Lumagen too!

It will simply blow you away! It does take a rather astute Video Tech to make it perfect. My ISF Video Tech travels the World & is as good as Joe Kane, maybe better! :yes:
 
I know that this is off the McIntosh topic, but I spent some time on the website and read a review that details the settings and functionality of the unit. Wow! Quite amazing, and I thought that my MX-119 had a lot of options! If I bought that unit I would definitely need to have your tech swing by for a visit!

Thank you again for the tip! I really better get my toy fund built up!

You are correct on the SDI interface. I have a Sony DVP9000es, I have modded it to include an SDI output. There are SDI kits out there for various machines but I would not attempt this unless you are skilled in electronics.:smoke:

I have experimented with numerous video processors using the SDI output from the Sony, the results are stunning!:yes:
