Geshelli Torc Dac

Its name slips my mind, but it looks like Geshelli's former "flagship" DAC didn't last very long. What was up with that?

.
The Dayzee. It was very large and costly to produce and purchase so it went bye bye.
.

...and it had no internal power supply, which was absolutely bizarre for a flagship DAC. I believed it shipped with a switching power supply (WTH?) so you were left trying to find an aftermarket linear power supply to go with it.

I had a Geshelli J2 and sold it, partially for this reason.

Why would you ever need to replace a good internal power supply?

Quieter? No, especially when it comes with a switching power supply. That's a noise factory.

The Schiit Mimir has a powered usb input and they also include an ac wall wart for linear external supply with higher voltage rails and higher output. the
geshelli Torc looks like a nice unit and it's modular like a lot of Schiit units.

It seems like the Geshelli really appeals to the op amp swapping crowd. It's became a thing, like tube rolling. I can see the appeal.
.
Yes indeed, and the new Torc has swappable boards too, including an R2R version. This new Torc is very appealing, especially, as you pointed out, to the op amp swapping crowd. I like their stuff a lot but I’m through with the DAC rollercoaster as I am very pleased with my FiiO Warmer’s. I’ve got two.
