Hello from the UK

Hi,

I have visited here on many occasions, but it was an amp repair thread that made me sign up. The amp is now working, so I am well pleased.

I live on the western edge of Cambridgeshire

I am currently retired and pottering around as retired people do, and enjoying listening to music whenever possible either streamed radio, CD or Vinyl, which of course was part of my formative years.

Valves are good as are transistor and I do the odd repair, but fixing things is getting tougher to find real genuine parts. At my time of life SMD is just doable with the larger sizes and a good magnifier, but I tend to stay away from that stuff.

Loudspeakers and loudspeaker components are the right size for me and I like tyring differing designs out in search of high performance for limited outlay. I have owned a clio pocket for many years now and for me it is an indispensable tool. I was going to buy the current magazine favourite at the time, but weirdly I opted to buy the Clio Pocket, many measurements later I am glad I did.

For the coming warmer months I need to finish a small Ls3/5a sized design for a friend, and for me I want to try a SB acoustics six incher in a a ported cab of around 11-20 litres, I havent completed a rough check in VituixCAD yet.

Ideally I also need to build up a wrecked Goldring Lenco GL75 consequently I have enough to do for the spring and summer, along with cutting the lawn, house maintenance and the odd bike ride on sunny days.

Hey, hey Ramondj from the UK. Grandpa's family came from Wales and I live on a bump out into Lake Michigan, so it seems like being on a small island. If I didn't live in Wisconsin, I could envision living in the UK. Hope that you enjoy the AK.

Whoa,

What a wonderful welcome, I was expecting maybe one or two Hi's and that would be it.

Hopefully our paths will cross here in the coming months and I can learn new things from you guys and maybe I can chip in some odd advice. However, I am not sure on that one as the level of knowledge here is huge.

Speakers and amps are easiest things for me, plus brit turntables and cartridges. I do have a few of each, plus my speaker boxes much to my long suffering wife's chagrin.

Welcome to he AK Pack, m'8.

Hope in time your wife's
"chagrin"will...
mellow in time.

And, may your
"audio plans"
play out as
epected.

Interesting point about audio plans.

I guess right now I simply want to enjoy my little experiment's with loudspeakers and getting old things up and running again.
Within that I can mix and match the few bits I have chasing synergy. I definitely like value for money projects these days and hopefully this summer I will become a better woodworker.

I definitely need to read across the forums and get a feel for what people are up to and what is popular here and chip in when I am able.
