Can someone with more expertise than me put an eyeball on these woofers and let me know if the re-cones were done properly? This pair is located in Bangkok. I'm thinking of buying. Thanks in Advance

I'm not an expert but it looks good to me. I don't think it's an impossible task.

I see your new to AK so welcome aboard and here's hoping you enjoy your time here.

A couple of suggestions:

When creating a thread title try to be succinct (W/Brand & Model# etc) as well in your opening post.

As it is now it's very vague thus probably why your not getting responses.

For future reference there is a dedicated JBL sub section here where all the JBL enthusiasts hang out who I'm sure would be able to answer your question.

From that distance they look fine, but I think closeup pics would do better to reveal any deficiencies.

Regardless, what we like is always subjective, but that is not a speaker I would be drawn to. There's potential for lots of diffraction from those edges, which can increase smearing and lead to poor soundstage . In the end it boils down to your preferences and objectives. Good luck.

Looks great to me, but I'd need to listen to them to make sure they've been centered correctly. If these went cheap enough I'd take a chance. I'd ask for the price but this is not the forum for it. You'd need to post in the Dollars and Sense forum for that, or ask one of the moderators to move this post there via the "Report" link.

I tend to judge the fine details of a recone by feel, not appearance. Obviously, visibly check to be certain that the surround and spider and properly glued in place, and no globs of glue, wrinkles/creases in the cone. Then, using multiple fingers (to not introduce side loads), gently move the cone/coil through it's entire range of motion to check for rubbing . . . one of the hardest parts of a recone is ensuging that the voice coil is centered on (and never contacts) the pole piece.

A good recone with the right parts is 100% restoration to as-new, and should not be a deterrent.

Thanks very much for the new member guidance. Really appreciate it.

As others have said it is difficult to tell much from the photo, but: The foam was installed on the back of the cone as original, that’s good. There does appear to be an abundance of glue shining/sparkling at the edge of each cone around 5:00, might just be the photo. Properly centered coils that don’t rub is important, the rest of the cabinet/speaker is important also, looks like a good restoration from what little I can see.

Good speaker model, very popular, let us know if you buy them how you like them.

I enlarge the photo. The surrounds are correct. :)

This is incorrect. :(
