I was wondering if you would need to change anything in this circuit if you used a 115v transformer instead of the 230v listed?

Tom is right (as always).

Another thing to consider, if you do not have a transformer already, is that some come with "Dual Primaries" and can be used with 120 or 240 VAC depending on how they are wired.

There are some interesting low voltage transformers that have "dual secondaries" as well. If you found a transformer that had a pair of 12V secondaries, each at 5Amps, you could connect them in parallel and get 24V @ 5Amps.

Good luck with the search!

Doh! I meant to say "connect them in series for 24V".... sorry!

Here's an Antek transformer that has both a dual primary and a dual secondary:

If you put the primaries in parallel, it will be usable at 115VAC input. Put the primaries in series for 230VAC input.

The Antek also has dual secondaries, each are roughly 12VAC@6A. If you put the secondaries in parallel, you can get 12VAC@12A, in series you can get 24VAC@6A.

The Antek transformers are good, so if you do not have a transformer for your project yet, you might give it a look.

Good luck!
