Power Button Issue On Sony Remote

The Sony B119A remote for my bluray player has suddenly stopped working.
At first it was not controlling my TV, but after re-inputting the code, that was solved.

Now all buttons but the power are working, and there is no light coming from the IR sensor.
I opened it up, and there is only a flat ribbon-type surface which is under each button, though I don't see any breaks in this surface.

Tried all the resetting solutions, but none have worked so far.

How likely is it that just the power button would fail?

There is a conductive carbon coating on the little "nipple" attached to the underside of the button. This eventually gets worn on many remotes from repeated use, as well as being contaminated with skin oils and so forth that get in underneath the rubber keypad. If it's a better quality remote sometimes just cleaning the nipple with some isopropyl, and the corresponding surface on the circuit board, will solve the problem. If not, the conductivity of the nipple is gone.

The poor man's fix to this is to take a small dot of aluminum foil and glue it to the nipple, thereby restoring its conductivity. The better solution is to buy a kit made specifically for addressing this problem. It comes with the two part coating that gets mixed, much like epoxy, and is then applied to the nipple on the underside of the keypad. This restores the conductive coating with a new layer. I believe CircuitWorks makes the repair kit. That was the brand of remote repair kit I purchased several years ago.
