I recently moved and it appears when the movers packed my turntable (Pioneer PL-540) away or during the move itself, some functions appeared to stop working.
Now when I lift the tone arm, move it towards the record, the platter won't start spinning until I move stylus so far over that it is already half-way through the first song.
Second problem is the auto-return no longer functions. Now the record continues to spin and the tone arm won't auto lift and return.
I was looking in the service manual and saw the instructions for auto-return operation and start of performance microswitch but I am still unclear as to what needs to be done.
Any advice?
