Got this vsx-31 second hand about a month ago, has been working perfectly until I got an amp overheat error a few days ago. I let it cool down and reset the system, but it happened again after about a hour or so of listening to music.
I wasn’t playing loudly, the receiver is on its own well ventilated and clean, my speakers are the right ohm rating, and the receiver is warm but definitely not hot.
I’m thinking it may be the “posistor” (temp sensor). Just bought a multimeter to test it that’ll come in tomorrow, I’ll also use it to test my speaker cables in case there is a short, but that may be unlikely. There’s an article of someone replacing one in theirs, though it’s a different model.
Things I would like help with:
The part listed in the article doesn’t seem to be available anymore, is there another place I may find one or am I better off just getting another receiver?
Is there another cause I may be overlooking that may be fixable?
