Not rust...."Galvanic Reaction", a chemical bonding process between dissimilar metals, pretty damn close to Red Loc-Tite in grip strength. A thin coating of anti-seize is critical here to make disassembly easier/possible.

I just finished putting new parking brake shoes on. Bosch. Long story about why I did this.

This is what one of those hubs looks like after 19 years. This time I used some Permatex anti seize - not there yet although job is done.

A piece of threaded rod will do the same thing a lot cheaper. I have been using all-thread for 50 years for putting manual transmissions in. Old school trick.
