I have Sansui AU D707 ( 819 ) and AU a607 ( X701).
You won't regret either of them.
Au 819 is little brother of 919 and X711 is from first generation alpha. Both are great amplifiers. And both are one below the TOTL integrated amps of their lineups.
AU 819 is late 70s Sansui design, face...
Hi,
I replaced the NMA/NMC 1216 outputs with Sanken MN1526 / MP1526.
The results are flawless. Same good old sheer power.
You may read the thread where it was discussed...
I think after first generation of x balanced amplifier, In alphas, Sansui did away with SUPER FF due to high cost issues. Ishino San also mentioned something to that effect.
I have been looking at it since last week. There's an EI core transformer under the cover.
I think it's from 907i Limited circa 1987-88.
I wanted a transformer for my Sansui project that will use Power stages from 607XR and Preamp from 607 Mos Vintage.
But after a sane and thorough brooding...
It is the volume pot thats gone bad.
If it is turned 70% the channel balance is accurate.
And I was able to listen to it for a prolong period without any problems.
I have changed all the trimpots to multiturns and was able to easily allign the amp, following the procedure in manual.
This...
I think the volume control got a hit in shipping. As I was able to move it to a point in between min and max volume where the resistance between 2 wipers were almost identical on both channels. I put in music and voila....the muffled sound is gone...almost. So it's the volume control.
I have...
Okay.
I have checked resistance from inputs to volume control.
At volume control in from CD input resistances are as follows :
L : 0.5 OHMS
R : 0.6 OHMS
But at the output of volume control that goes into control / pre amp the readings at volume max are :
L : 13.8 OHMS
R : 1.7 OHMS...
All inputs same.
Source CD player and DAC, same outcome right channel muffled.
Even after Source Direct the right channel is muffled.
I will check the signal path resistance and report back.
So finally I get the test of the venerable Alpha series and am I blown...
yes sir I am.
It commands such presence that's hard to describe. Each instrument has it's own place in the sound stage and what a control......
My unit is JDM hence is 100v, right now being run on a variac of 1200 VA...
Hi,
I'm planning to get a tuner for my Sansui Amp.
I've been searching online sites but couldn't get anything matching in my budget.
On Yahoo Japan auctions there are many α tuners at mouth watering prices but since Japan FM range is 76 to 90 ~ MHz, it won't make sense.
All japanese analog...
I have run into a stone wall.
Have to order transformer for the setup but since there is no manual available I do not know about the secondary voltages of transformer.
If anybody with the same amplifier unit can throw some light over it, I'll be most thankful.
