Another big step forward for records is in record cleaning with ultra sonic cleaners to preserve treasured records at a price almost everyone can afford. I wouldn't be in any hurry to discard older VPI and Nitty Gritty RCMs, combined with ultra sonic cleaners it doesn't get much better.

Luckiestman at this stage preserving these early direct drive tables in their original form as much as possible should be the goal. Failure wasn't an option for Panasonic/Technics and they threw everything but the kitchen sink into the design and materials of the table. Given a well recorded...

The Official *Technics SL-1200* Owners Club

mrwood200 once the 1200 is up and running I feel confident you will be very pleased with a very reliable daily driver that can be supported well into the future. I'd rate the 1200 a professional grade turntable. If you need anything KAB will be your friend. The real professional DJs took good...

    Denon DP80 & DP75 Owner's Thread

Richardloh the details re your plinth are very informative, besides the Denon there were other plinths to accommodate the DP-80, looks loke you put a lot of thought into it. My plinth is an early VPI designed for a number of Japanese direct drive motor units and tonearms, very substantial.

Richardioh I'd say it came out excellent and all in keeping with the original design from that era. More like 45 years old, if there is a couple tiny flaws I don't see them.

Congrats Rich you put a lot of effort into the DP-80, I'm sure it will sound as good as it looks.

Snovosel I gather you want the KD-600 to go to a good home at a fair price for both you and the buyer, this can be accomplished in AKs D&S by experienced and knowledgeable AK members familiar with the KD-600. When posting make sure you submit good sharp photos of EVERYTHING. If you have the...

Other question does the table power up and platter spin? Also did the tonearm have a cable? From picture unsure if it is the power cord or tonearm cable.

Snovosel a reliable indicator of what a KD-600 might be worth is Ebay sold items. You might have to adjust for shipping and tax. If there are multiple examples try to get an average between high and low. As mentioned the tonearm can have a significant influence on the final figure. Best...

Looking for TT to replace ION iTTUSB

Zygmo like the other members that commented I was trying to be charitable re the OPs selecting an ION turntable which is about as low as anyone can go in the turntable pecking order. No fault of anyone who is not knowledgeable re turntables, they have a reputation in the hands of a novice of...

Looking for TT to replace ION iTTUSB

Sorry to say turntables and records are a very hands on medium that requires a fair amount of participation and some mechanical aptitude. Unlike a CD player you have to do a lot more than push a button to play. Not exactly high maintenance but they require a good bit of attention to detail...

Measured my VPI plinth and it appears to allow 3 1/2 inches depth for the motor unit.

Also the DP-75 is indistinguishable from the DP-80 by experienced listeners. Elimination of the DP-80 pitch control that would rarely be used by home consumers cut the cost. Also startup speed not needed in home setting. IMO the major feature that contributes to both the DP-75/80 performance is...
