Drum problem solved, but now I have hiss

Yesterday I was here discussing how my setup was making me lose a lot on the high-end. Well, it turns out once I cut USB out of my equation that problem was solved. Now I'm running my turntable through my ART USB Phono Plus, but I'm using the line-out on it and hooking it up to my computer...

    Missing out on drums?

Okay, so after much fiddling I realized I have two separate problems. 1. The lack of a high end. That's my stylus. 2. The overall muddiness of the sound. That's my preamp. For some reason the ART USB Phono Plus is making my music sound garbled and subdued, like it's being recorded...

    Missing out on drums?

Oh? I'm using an ART USB Phono Plus. What settings could I change aside from the low-cut filter and the gain?

    What makes you say that?

    Missing out on drums?

Did the tweaks, no change. Stylus is clean, I checked and I actually bought this in November, so not much wear at all as I spent about two months out of the country. Like I said, I've always had this problem with this stylus but I'm just noticing it more now that I've gotten a better ear for...

Less than a year, but I first noticed this problem months ago.

    Missing out on drums?

Thanks for the replies. Well, its with every record, so it's not the vinyl. And it's not bass I'm talking about, it's more of the high end, the hi hats and such.

    Missing out on drums?

Got the new Daft Punk on vinyl this week. I love it. But I noticed that when I spin it on my turntable the drums sound muted. Tried out a few other records, compared them to the CD versions, and found the same. Here's a comparison The first 30 seconds are from the CD version of a track off...

Converting Technics "S" tonearm to straight?...

Yeah, it benefits the manufacturer's wallet. Just because something costs a lot doesn't mean it's worth that cost/worth anything at all.

Album Covers which made a teenage boy's mind wander

Not every teenage boy likes album covers with scantly clad women y'know.

    Sharp RP-117 Turntable

I just saw an ad for one of these on Craigslist for $225. Is it worth it? It wouldn't be my main deck (got a Technics for that) but as long as they aren't total garbage I thought it might be a fun turntable to try out. Not something you see everyday.

Technics SL-1200MK2 vs. Audio Technica AT-LP120 Blind Test

The ATLP-120 could sound spot-on perfect compared to the 1200, but it won't for long. Those things are not built to last.

    Stanton RIP

Can someone give me a link to the post at VE. (I have no idea what VE is)

    It just feels so wrong.

I used to use a Stanton that has a tracking force of over 5g, 2.5 is nothing!
