Class G amps. Pros, cons, Class A?

It is a beast for sure! Think it's 68lbs, side by side of a 7500 MKII and 8500, makes the 7500 looks like a toy, in it;s own right is a serious amp.

Class G amps. Pros, cons, Class A?

I'll have it on all day, it's only mildly warm. Even driving it, it's never gets "hot", but it does warm up. Think the key was doing a total refresh on it, and getting the bias set properly.

How your gear looks ... does it really matter?

Yes, appearance is very important. But secondary to sound quality. Think that is part of the reason for Mcitosh being popular, is that the looks match the sound. Same for most of us with Vintage gear, it just "looks" right, and sounds great. Yes, mixing colors is not a good idea, same for wood...

    Amplifier Distortion, DC-Offset, and You!

How often should offset be checked? Rebuilt my Pre & power amps Christmas 2024, are they do for a checkup?

First time with DSP on Subs

That was my thought as well. With the before curves not being that bad, and the DSP totally cleaning it up, think the subs are in the correct spots for now. Have cleaned things up a bit, moved some stuff around, should pull out the DSP mic, do some new readings to see if it changed anything.

First time with DSP on Subs

Music Purifiers and litz ground wire, it cleans up the sound, hard to describe. I did it both ways, only doing L/R for each sub, when I doubled it, the subs puts out a more more bass. I think when I only do one L/R it does not use both voice coils on the sub. Sadly, these little jumper wires...

First time with DSP on Subs

Think they are totally broken in now, say there are around 100 hours on them. As they have been breaking in, I keep having to turn down the gain. Started at 50, and now at 26-28. Adjusted the crossovers a bit, have my pre-amp tone controls set bypassed. New Blue-Jeans cables have been...

    Schiit power switches

Buy one of these, use it as a system power switch. That is what I have been doing on my setup.

    Passive or active subwoofer?

Vintage system here with no sub out, or sub anything. Have 2 powered subs hooked up directly from my main speakers. It goes, amp-speakers-subs. Any sub with speaker level imputs will do this. Set the crossover and gain on the subs, and you are done. It sounds sublime! You have no idea what a...

First time with DSP on Subs

Yeah, once you can no longer tell that all the speakers are working, they are totally working! Subs are on spikes right now, going to place some egg crate foam behind them, just to see what it does. Each sub is 56lbs, they are not light. it's kind of cool, can dial in phase 1 deg at a time...

First time with DSP on Subs

Was not alone when doing the test, there was a meeting going on the other room, the dog was fetching a ball. That is what the upper stuff is from. Am going to do it again when I'm all alone. As soon as you ask anyone in the house to be "quiet" for 5min, that is the only thing you DO NOT get...

First time with DSP on Subs

Not sure it can be changed, this is from the PDF it spits out when your done. Might be able to change the graph when testing. Will play around with it. LOL, my socks, they were wet, just got back from taking my Blue Healer to the dog park. You can see all her murder also on the rug, she loves...

First time with DSP on Subs

Yeah, you can tell there was a big boost somewhere. Sadly just purchased new wires for the subs, don't have a lot of room to play with. There is no time delay on the subs, they do totally disappear, almost asking myself "are these on" but I can feel them. At first, there was less bass, it felt...

How many run a subwoofer w/ their 2 channel stereo?

Thanks, yeah, my socks were wet, just got back from taking the dog to the wet park, you can see all her murder on the floor from her latest "lets see what's on the inside".

How many run a subwoofer w/ their 2 channel stereo?

Didn't think I need a sub. Tried for almost a year to get the punch, and slam from my speakers. Unless the volume was high, it just wasn't there. I got bass, just no impact. Added a sub, changed everything, then added another sub, that change was just as big. A proper sub setup changes...
