removing rodent stink from insulation

I did, multiple times, even ran it for several days. It worked fine until the first time I put the car out in the sun and the roof got hot, then it was just vanilla rotten rodent with urine garnish thanks to the dead critter, it's leavings, and the vanillaroma little tree air freshener.

after multiple attempts I gave up and pulled the headliner, and thats where we are now.

Amazon might have a block to CA on all similar things.

I was going to re-order a replacement non-stick pan same as I'd ordered some years back. But, Amazon said could not ship to MN.

So, I tried to order other non-stick pans. Found a trend that they would not ship any pan with PFAS-type non stick to MN because MN put a ban on cookware (and maybe other stuff) with PFAS coating.

I was able to order a non-stick pan but it was a ceramic or whatever non-stick, not PFAS.
 
Try an open box of baking soda in your car for a few days ? Maybe a week or two boxes of baking Soda .
 
with the headliner removed, the car doesn't smell anymore. Working on making the headliner not smell now.

I soaked it down with the enzyme odor removal stuff, will check on it tomorrow to see what that has done. Sun is in short supply lately so that part of the experiment will have to wait.

ordered some of that butyl sound killer stuff while the headliner is out, because why not. I thought i had some but apparently I used it on something.

Dead Squirrel In The Glovebox

Found a fuzzy little phantom
Ridin' shotgun down inside.

And my owners manual's trash,
And my truck smells just like hell
When I'm stepping on the gas.

I got a dead squirrel in my glovebox
Been there long enough to get dried
When I'm to my destination
They will see how much I cried.

I started having a funky smell in my car, turns out a little mickey mouse had set up shop on top of my cabin filter. So every time I put the heat on it was blowing this stink into and out of the vents. I replaced the cabin filter and laid a Bounce dryer sheet on top of the cabin filter before sliding it into place. Have not seen any activity since. also does not interfere with air flow. I change out the dryer sheet periodically during the life of the cabin filter.
I know this has nothing to do with the OP's issue. but if anyone has experienced a cabin filter infiltration or want to avoid it to begin with. Try a dryer sheet.
 
I'm starting to wonder---- How many of us driving around with little mouse families in the car? Do you suppose they ever say, "C'mon guys! Let's get out here! It feels like better weather over here!"

The problem is, those critters LOVE to chew on super-expensive OEM wiring looms. I've had friends with Garage Queens who only fire them up twice a year.

One guy had a Mercedes-Benz 450SL. He tried to start it, and all he got was a solid set of warning lights on the dash — nothing else. Look under the hood, and there was this huge rat's nest right above the engine wiring loom, all nicely chewed to pieces.

You can usually smell it if there are or have been residents.

As Mr. Bouchie mentioned, they sometimes get a hankering for chewing on wires.

Worked on a minivan for my fiance's parents some years ago. Critters took a fancy to the spark plug wires. Ended up with three sets of plug wire odds and ends before the critters either died or moved on to something else.

for rats leave the bonnet up and also spray old diesel engine oil over everything under the bonnet . they dont like it as it kills them . for mice douse everything in peppermint oil and for both remove all food including crumbs

I hear chocolate-covered coffee beans are the bomb! Rats love them, but the caffeine KO's them. However, don't let your dogs or cats get into it.
