I've finally fixed the driver's seat belt on the farm beater. I was skeptical that this would work and had plans to replace it with a good part from the scrapper. It was sticking so bad that I would accidentally close the door on it. I've been in so many vehicles that have this problem.
The process:
Wash the outside of the vehicle.
Pull belt fully out and tie it off to the outside of the vehicle. The rear wheel may work.
Diluted some simple green in a trigger sprayer and scrubbed it with the softest wash brush.
I have a fine nozzle wand for a garden hose. Less aggressive than the lowest setting on the pressure washer, but better than most hose sprayers.
Scrubbed and rinsed ~3 times until it looked like most of the funk was gone.
Leave the belt facing the sun with the doors open to dry. I have a dome light defeat on the dash to prevent battery drain. Be prepared with a battery charger, etc.
There was some very minor scuffing on the paint and I'm not sure what would be best to prevent that. It's a beater and no concerns in this case. I've been occasionally using it for a month and it seems to be working better now than it did after I first cleaned it.
