A.caddy full of tubes are coming my way.

My son just messaged me with a video of a tube caddy with pull out trays full of tubes.
He snagged it for at a yard sale for peanuts. Most of the tubes look to be TV and radio tubes, but there are some I can use. I'll post pictures when he drops it off or I drive up to get the caddy. I should be driving up to see him in a few days anyway.

Been there done that. Inherited a trove of various tubes from an old service shop that worked on lots of jukeboxes. Apparently they did routine pulls as part of the service, and every old tube went back into the box the new tube came out of. Nothing is the brand the box says it is, and everything dirty and at least partially worn out. Caveat Emptor.

But for peanuts, anything will be great considering the purchase cost now.
 
I took a few screen shots from the video he sent me. I saw a few worth saving if they test good. A 6AQ5, a 6LR8, etc. I'm not able to post the picrures at the moment. Orobably due to thw server update?

My son told me the person running the yard sale thought he might have another box full of audio tubes and would put them out tomorrow if he did. The yard sale is close to my sons house so he's going to check it out for me. But ya, my luck most or all would be duds.
 
Kind of like putting money in a slot machine. I will be wondering if you got 3 cherries. I have bought tubes like this before. Can't resist. Overall, I have done well. Good luck. Paul.

Thanks! I saw a hand full of 6GH8A's in the pictures. I also saw a couple 6LR8's. I use them in my sweep tube amp. Hopefully a few of these are still good.

I can't just yet. I grabbed screen shots of the tubes from the video my son sent me. He just took a short video of the tubes themselves. All I could really tell was that it had two fold out trays. I should be able to pick it up on the 2nd.
My son lives an hour away and I have a doctor's appointment in the town he lives in on the 2nd. If he doesn't have a meeting he should be working from home that day.

Ya, same here. I've been looking up some of these tubes.
The 6LR6 is one that I asked about earlier. I guess Pete Millett has used th2m before. There's a few threads on them over at DIY.
The 6GH8A's I'll most likely pass along if they test good. Im sure some folks with ST-70's or SCA-35's might want them.
 
I've got a set of 6lr8 in the mail. Same as the 6lu8, there is a thread on here somewhere for those. Its basically half a 12at7 and a 6973 in one bottle. Planning a push pull build but they make a perfectly fine SE amp. It would be similar to a 6v6 SE but allows higher plate voltage. Figure about 5 watts in pentode mode if run close to datasheet spec
