Very true. I'll be opening each one to check. The box may contain a different tube than the number on the box. Paul.
I really ljke the 6LR8 SEUL amp I built. There is another one just like the 6LR8, but has an anode cap instead of it connecting to a pin. I almost went with that one. I still could if I added a couple jacks to connect a wire to the anode caps.I've got a set of 6lr8 in the mail. Same as the 6lu8, there is a thread on here somewhere for those. Its basically half a 12at7 and a 6973 in one bottle. Planning a push pull build but they make a perfectly fine SE amp. It would be similar to a 6v6 SE but allows higher plate voltage. Figure about 5 watts in pentode mode if run close to datasheet spec
I really need to re-tube my Dynaco FM3 tuner. I'll have to see if there are any I need in that caddy. I saw a few odd ball rectifiers too in that mess of tubes. Those 6HA5's are used in some Fisher FM tuners and receivers. But nobody around here likes that stuff![]()
It's still at my son's house. I have to drive up that way in a couple days.Pictures are working now .Let's see the tube caddy
I plan on keeping the tube boxes. I always keep any boxes from tubes I buy and use too. I'll need some of those old TV tube boxes for.loose.tubes that I have that won't fit in the boxes I do have on hand. Those boxes look to be in good shape. I have spent hundreds of dollars on new tube boxes, to put all the bulk tube buys that I have acquired. New boxes can be a buck a piece. Just get some small avery labels or use your brothers to make labels those boxes can be reproposed.

Even back in the mid 2000's, if you bought a lot of mixed tubes, you'd get 90% TV pulls. People sifted out all the Hi-Fi and guitar amp ones — even back then — and sold them individually on eBay.Out of all those tubes just a few are useful. Five 6GH8A's, one 6LR8, one
6AQ5A, one 6EM7 dual triode, one 6LX6, and one 6LR6. The 6EM7 dual triode I've seen used in headpbone amp builds. All look to be new but I'll test them to be sure.
Most of the tubes in this caddy were Lindal branded made in Japan.
I got lucky .I inherited a friend's tube caddy chock full of audio tubes.Even back in the mid 2000's, if you bought a lot of mixed tubes, you'd get 90% TV pulls. People sifted out all the Hi-Fi and guitar amp ones — even back then — and sold them individually on eBay.
Well, I guess those 6GH8 can be used in some ST70 boards.![]()

Ya, four of the 6GBH8's are Sylvania and look like they've never been used. The 5th one is that Japanese brand like most of the tubes are. I wonder if that Lindal brand just rebranded tubes from western brands, or had the few Japanese brands that made tubes make them?Even back in the mid 2000's, if you bought a lot of mixed tubes, you'd get 90% TV pulls.
