Source for rubber surrounds?

bakes

Super Member
Re-surrounding a pair of 8" poly woofers whose rubber surrounds have long since decided to become as pliable as a bowling ball. These are slightly larger than standard, with a 6 1/4" cone/8" surround outer diameter. Any good sources? Yes I could go with foam but I'm a purist!!!

Thanks... :thmbsp:

Agreed - no question on using rubber surrounds (these seem to have a pretty "common" looking surround profile). anyone in the AM crew have any ideas?

You may want to try MCM Electronics, they have rubber surrounds (or at least used to).

Speakerworks Northwest @ http://www.speakerworks.net which are showing only foam, but who knows, they may be able to point you into the right direction.

And it might not hurt to contact these guys... http://www.simplyspeakers.com/2doityourself.htm

Also, GordonW (an AK member) might be able to help you too. Give him a PM.

Thanks - great info! :thmbsp:
