To avoid several threads and misinformation, I thought I would give those of you who care a little more info.
Audiokarma is backed up every night. This particular backup being done Friday is a little different. Normally we do not shut the site down. If there is an issue after the backup is done, we loose all posts between the time the backup was done and the time whatever issue may occur, that we would need to install from the backup. So, we are taking the forums offline before the backup to make sure we capture all the posts.
Now the SQL backup doesn't take all weekend. We decided to take the time this weekend to also backup the servers to an offsite facility. Things like attachments alone are pushing 40 terabytes. Then there is the photo galleries and more. We will also take this time to do some long needed hardware maintenance and software upgrades. So, you see this will not be a simple backup of the SQL database.
We apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. We also appreciate your patience while we work to make Audiokarma bigger and better.
