Curious about these speakers I have..

I know for sure they're Norman Labs 12bs, fairly rare, & I need to sell them because I just don't have the time/space for them...

Mainly I'm curious if it's worth it to sell them or should I re-purpose the cabinets (BEAUTIFUL wood).

I know they've got to be worth a decent price since they're fairly rare, but they've also been in storage & really need the foam surrounds replaced on the 12s.

Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Oh man, never heard of them....but WOW! I would LOVE to hear them.....I have no room, either. barely enough to let my JBL 4311's sing.

I'm in north TX.. Denton, actually.
Sorry, forgot to mention that..
and yeah, my wife's the same way...

Exactly what is your question? Are you interested in knowing a price to sell them at?

Yeah, I guess that would be the place to start..
Don't want to let them go for too cheap, but don't want to be "that guy" that gouges some poor guy that just really likes speakers...
Then if I could figure out what the fair price is I guess I could decide if I wanted to sell them for that or just hang on to 'em/use the wood for nifty end tables or whatever...

Denton, huh? Hmmm....I'm right in your area! :D I emailed my buddy who is the "know all" of Norman Lab and this was his response.

These are the most expensive Normans. I think we called them Model 11`s, but I`d have to call Klaus to be sure. The originals had built in amps. They were very expensive new, but have very little resale value. All the parts are original. Philips mid, which I still have, Panasonic leaf tweeters, Credence stock woofers. Biggest problem was selling wife on giant boxes in living room.

So there you have it. Are the ones you have powered? I'd love to hear a pair as I haven't seen or heard them in years.

Oh, and I might be interested as I am local...within 10 minutes of you most likely. Don't use them for end tables!!!

This is a joke, right?

only mostly. I did have a nifty Lowrey organ "fall on to the tablesaw" for another project recently, but I was already going to use the leslie setup for a standalone cabinet, & the actual organ part was in pretty bad shape.

But yeah, even if I never use 'em they just look too awesome to "recycle".

So would the verdict here be: They sold for a lot back in the day, but the price dropped after a while, apparently they're rare (not the powered version, btw), but mostly only really worth something to an afficianado?

I bet they are worth a good amount. Put them in the classifieds here for some amount your comfortable with an OBO and let it sort itself out.
