Mach 1's, PSB Monitors and RS STA 90 GW find

Axcel

Accuphase all the way
Been on a dry spell lately until yesterday. I went to my usual haunts and again nothing till my last stop. I asked the Manager if there was anything in back. The employees are all retired and seldom get the big heavy stuff up front. He said therewas some god awful heavy stuff out back go have a look. I walked out back and my jaw dropped the a mint pr of Mach 1's a RS STA 90 the bill from Oct 10 1976 for both attached to the back of the speaker. Other then some scratchy controls the odd scrape these heavy beasts survived 30 yrs pretty well. Sound wise hooked to my sta 2200 pretty nice. Seem to handle all types of music well. Oh yes there was a pr of PSB monitors as well:banana: $10 for the Machs 1's - $5 for the STA 90 and $6.50 for the PSB's:music::thmbsp:

You got those for a truly awesome price! Have you seen the thread linking to a pair of Mach 1's on Ebay which went for close to 100 times what you paid?

Glorious! That is a legendary score my friend!

Write that one down in the vintage audio score history books. Let's see some closeup pics of that stuff.

Home run Axcel! Excellent score!

Once again, I think your success was due to what you said that you did in order to find the treasure that otherwise would have remained hidden, "Been on a dry spell lately until yesterday. I went to my usual haunts and again nothing till my last stop. I asked... "
Nicely done!

Congratulations, and enjoy!

That STA-90 is a very nice receiver. Here is the 1978 RS Catalog Page.

Yep, there were a lot of real sleepers in the realistics of that era.

Oops meant to post in another thread. Sorry

Congrats! I guess that I do need to keep looking!!

The best I've found is some Minimus 7's at the GW that closed out in Whitby.

The Realistic STA-90 is my favorite sounding receiver of all time. And i own a Pioneer SX-980. Thats one amazing score!
