Got my new Denon DP-300f

Got it unpacked and set up today. Set everything to factory specs, and switched on the internal preamp. So far it sounds great. It does sound different than my Sl1200 did, but not really better or worse. It doesn't have the precise detail or clarity of the Technics, but it does sound more warm, and has a more realistic presence, as if I'm actually sitting in the concert hall or the studio etc. Auto functions work flawlessly, as does manual cueing. So far I am very happy with this table. I'll probably replace the stock cartridge with something better soon, but for now this is just fine.

Here are some pictures!

Great! pictures for a Great! Turntable. I have mine for almost a year now, no complaints at all.

Enjoy your music.

MCM has the Headshells for less than Needle Doctor. I have a AT440MLa on mine right now.

Thanks,
John.:music::D

Very Nice!

I have always liked this table both what I have read and heard about it. Many happy folks own one of these. It looks really nice in your setup I hope you have many hundreds of hours of listening pleasure.

Way cool buy! :thmbsp:

Cool pictures mrpillow.

Man, I would love to hear one of those with an external preamp and upgraded cart. The 300f seems to be a lot of bang for the buck.

Enjoy

I've been on the fence about getting one, but I don't know what in use TT it would replace... Great photos.

Glad you like the record player. I put mine in a drawer like the old timers did back in the 50s and 60s. ;)

The lack of detail and clarity could very likely be the cartridge/stylus. I believe it is an AT-3600L, a conical. Be interesting to hear how it sounds with the same cartridge you used on the Technics.

I need to figure out exactly what alignment and spacing I need to use before I go switching cartridges on this headshell, but I'll be giving that a try relatively soon.

There is a diagram on page 6 of the manual showing a 45mm measurement from the stylus tip to the back of the headshell.

Just put the Pickering on the Denon. Sound has improved slightly in overall tone, but the channel balance and stage is much better now.

I think you will find difference and improvements as you move up in cartridges. It is after all where the music lays! Once again nice pics.
