What every Beatles remastered box set owner NEEDS!

There is little limit to the ingenuity with which sellers will draw more and more "extra" dollars from our pockets...

Did you buy a Beatles remastered box set? The mono? The stereo? Both? Well, now that you've bought the best-ever versions of these songs, you need something worthy to keep and display them in, right? Something big enough to fit in with your vinyl collection, right? Something complete with not one, but three unique books, including one with ALL the artwork EVER on Beatles LPs (both UK and US editions), including front and back covers and all inserts. Something classy and solid, with embossed linen cover, and durable insert pages that will hold all your Beatles CDs in their "jewel" cases, well-protected and readily available.

What is the price for this must-have accessory? Only US$89.99! Yep, ninety bucks for a better box to box your boxed sets in! :D {Where is Betty Botter when I need her? :D}

The sad thing is, I think I'll probably get one of these... I guess maybe I was born every minute... sigh... :D

Described as a 'handy-dandy carrying case'

I'm just going to go everywhere with my Beatles remastered set, so I need a box to carry them in - I don't think so.

I wonder if they will market the book without the carrying case :scratch2:

To see clearly how this thing is put together, click on the "purchase" link on the page I linked to above. It takes you to another page first, not to a checkout page. That page has a button on it for taking a "video tour". The video tour has a couple of parts/levels, so make sure you don't click away from it too quickly. Altogether, it gives you a very clear idea of what is in each part of this pack, and how it all fits together.

It has three parts:

1 book that is a "catalog" of all the Beatles US and UK releases, with pics and descriptions, including clear indications of the differences between them. Useful for any collectors who aren't already real experts.

1 200+ page book that shows all their album covers, inserts, even the 45 rpm covers and some other stuff, in nice, big full-color illustrations.

The "book" part that holds all the remastered discs (I think there are 32 in total), including their "Digipack" cases.

All three of these are in a "book" box case whose ends are printed to simulate LP ends, so you can put the whole thing into your LP collection and it will "fit right in".

Overall, a nice design for a way to house these CDs; both more impressive and more convenient than the cardboard boxes they come in as-shipped. Browsing the book while playing a CD is almost like looking at an album cover while the LP is playing.

I'm not sure if it is worth niney bucks(!), but with the books and everything, it probably is. When you consider what the box sets already have cost, and how easily they can wear, etc... it isn't a bad idea to get a case like this. It sort of becomes the "ultimate" set, which might enhance its collectible value long-term, too. Of course, it won't hurt if you can get Paul and Ringo to sign the case for you, too (and get a pictures of them together with you, with them holding pens and the case, to prove the authenticity of the signatures!). :D

I sure wouldn't carry them around, either! But I see the thing more as a storage case; a less clumsy and much less risky/damaging way to flip through them and find/select one to play; a better size-and-shape package for them (since the size, shape and appearance is designed to match LPs); a nice "display pack"; etc... rather than as a means of lugging the CDs around (although perhaps some "deejay" type might appreciate that). I didn't see a handle on the end, but perhaps there is one? I don't think so, though.

I find the concept very similar to the packaging of the Star Wars Trilogy, Collector's Edition Laserdisc box, or the Terminator II Laserdisc box, and other LD packages that contained LDs and a book (or books) inside a single, sturdy box. In general I like those sets, so I figure I'll like this set, too. But obviously it isn't for everyone.

It works. But after dropping 200 and change on the discs themselves, I cannot justify spending more.

"It's the ultimate fan piece," says Jonathan Polk, who conceived the Box Of Vision. "I have always been frustrated with the available options for organizing and storing CDs. And,I hated the fact that the beautiful LP artwork I grew up with was reduced to almost postage stamp size on CDs."

Huh? What CD cover is the size of a postage stamp? :scratch2:

I find this extremely annoying. Isn't that the point of getting the box set, to get a fancy box, artwork, photos and essays?

I agree, all very good reasons to love vinyl! But it never ceases to amuse me, and sometimes to amaze me, the ways that people come up with, to extract ever more money from fans, collectors, etc...

Next thing you know, they'll be releasing reproductions of vintage Beatles "collectibles", like the lunch boxes and bobble-head dolls. [Anyone remember those?]

Actually some reproductions have been around for awhile. The Corgi Yellow Sub is one example.
