Recapped my tuner while waiting for a SM to come in for my AH-7951 (arrived today!). Been planning to do this for awhile, and while at it add a 75-Ohm F connector. Gone are all the little nasty Tantalums, replaced with either Nichicon UKL or Panasonic ECQ Film caps. Nichicon 'lytics everywhere else. So without further ado...

Very nice. I have a TX-9500 II I've been meaning to get to for a re-cap. They are a great tuner. The F connector is a nice touch. I think I'll do the same.

A Couple More Pix

As part of my restoration work on this tuner, I wanted to fix as best I could, a very noticeable ding, bend, mauling (whatever you want to call it, it was ugly) on the front right faceplate. I bought it knowing it had this cosmetic issue years ago, but since I was doing the general overhaul, and was going to clean the glass anyway, I gave it a go.

After setting it face down on a piece of corrugated cardboard on the garage floor, I carefully pounded the dent back into shape, and then filed til it was squared-off again. I didn't want to take the chance of pounding so much that I knocked the whole corner off, so there's still a part of the corner that has some missing aluminum, but I think it turned out pretty good considering. I finished it off by sanding with 400 grit wet/dry wrapped around a block for better flatness.

A final thing I may do is replace the power cord with an IEC recepticle to the left of where the original cord enters the chassis. I assume that the ground terminal would just have a wire connected to the chassis. Correct???

Edit: Forgot to add: She's sounding nice! :music: Now to get a proper alignment for best performance!

What did you do for lights? They look super white/bright.

Just a result of the 6 and 10 second exposures when I took the pix. I set up my camera on a tripod since I was using lower lighting. Mine are indeed yellowish and the WIDE, NARROW, STEREO and POWER light orange.
