Onkyo P-388f pre-amp

TOM1040

Hello all, this is my first posting. I would like to know if anyone has any experience with the Onk P-388f pre-amp. I'm not sure if it qualifies as vintage but I just won it from the bay and cannot find any reviews. I have the matching Onk dx-788f cd player ( again-no reviews ). It will be hooked up with two amps, Yamaha MX-1000 and Onkyo M-508 driving a pair of Infinity Kappa 8.2 and Infinity RSKappa 8 speakers (Yamaha low pass & Onk. fof the high pass). Any thoughts would be helpful. As an aside, I find this forum to be very informative and interesting. All of you seem to have a much better grasp at this than I. Thanks for your input.

AKer theophile has been raving about the sound quality of the Onkyo P-303, a preamp from 1977-82, mrsp $410.
I think preamps have improved sound, and my two main preamps are mid-90s models. The P-388F is from 1993 and I can only imagine it is a superb unit.

Hi Paul C

Of course you shouldn't be left out on offers. I also have the Service-manual for P-3200 so feel free to send PM with e-mail address.

I really believe these vintage models should be kept functioning for as long as possible so where I can help with manuals for this purpose, I do. The built quality on these oldies far outgrows any present all-in-dolby-surround-bells & whistles-junk floating around.
So, I say: Keep'em running:thmbsp:

Kind regards,

Hey Tri' . . you wouldn't happen to have a manual for the M-588 would you? Also . . you mentioned the P-388f manual. I could use that one too since I could not find one for my P-388 and they're practically identical inside.

Thx, --ralph
