Touch Panel for Music Server MS300 - SOLVED!!

I am happy to report that a touch panel that works for the MS300 is available at a very reasonable cost. As most of you know, the MS300 is the very close relative of Escient's E2-300. The E2-300 (and many other Escient servers) have an accessory 15" touchscreen (the ETP-1500), but the price is a whopping $2000. There was a post here that it doesn't work with the McIntosh, but it does. There is a bit of setup that needs to be done, but it works great.

Now for the really good news. With some investigation, we found an alternative to the Escient touch screen. It is 15 inch, has all the appropriate connections (S-video and RGB port), has been tested and works great. The price is a very reasonable $640 from Audio Classics.

I have no affiliation with Audio Classics, just a long time satisfied customer. I have some connections in the computer field and was able to find this monitor and put Audio Classics in touch so they could make them easily available. They also naturally have the instructions to set the monitor up with the MS300.

May we have more details:brand, size, color, 4/3 or 16/9, does it work under 220 Volts, a picture perhaps?

It could be interesting.

If you call Audio Classics I'm sure they will fill you in on the specifics, or perhaps they can answer here.

If you go to the Audio Classics site it's listed as EXCALIBUR-TOUCH, there is a picture of the one on display.
The screen is 15" in a 4/3 layout.
Power input is 100 to 240 volts

I was almost ready to blow this off as frivolous, cool as it may seem, but seeing it with the McIntosh logo on it, my interest is peeked (kind of like the leafs on the trees this time of year)...:scratch2:
I may have to take a drive over & visit my pals @ AC, see it in person & decide if this is one of those things I just can’t live without…:thmbsp:
Hey Ivan, are you reading this???

I think the McIntosh logo is just glued on by AC for a laugh. I doubt Mc has anything to do with it.

Yup, I'm here. Not much interest though since I already have multiple means to select from. Two Monitors (15" & 10'), Computer, Keyboard, & RF Remote Control.

LMK when voice recognition comes out :thmbsp:

Hi guys.

I got the panel and installed it over the WE.

All worked according to plan. The panel looks good, although the picture is a little bit fuzzy (I ordered a RCA to BNC video cable to try to correct that).

The touch function is working nicely, and compare to the Web server interface, the MS300 response time between screen change is almost instantaneous: what a good change !

The only negative point is that there is no auto-switch off of the screen when the MS300 is on standby. It just display a blue screen and sits there.

I just wanted to share with you my experience.

Ivan I think voice recognition for any command other than "ON" will have a VERY difficult time functioning in your room! :music:
