which deoxit should I get (Yes, I searched)

I use Deoxit D5 for switches and contacts and use Deoxit Faderlube for pots and trimming pots (not trimming capacitors or tuning capacitors)

so d5s, d5ms, or d100s for the contact cleaner, and f5s-h6, f5ms-h15, or f100s?
I am so confused by all of these numbers, what is the difference?!?!

Yes, it is confusing. I had to go through some research to understand why there's so much stuff. I had finally combed them out narrow to 2 products I been using for now. I wouldn't use D5 on pots because it does not have certain lubricating properties that Faderlube (F5) has for wiping surface in pots.

Ya, I plan to get one of the deoxidizers and one of the faderlubes, so which of those above are the proper ones?

Parts Express listed it as D5S-6 part number 341-200. Looks like the same can with D5 on the side that I have.

depending on where you live, you can go to radio trash and pick up the small twin pack with d5 and d5 gold. Quick access and less the crazy Partsexpress shipping. http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=deoxit&origkw=deoxit&sr=1

Can't go wrong with that. Have both Deoxit D5 and D5 Gold. D5 for regular metals and D5 Gold for precious metals used in audio as well. But wouldn't use either for pots though.

Correction: I read it wrong it's actually Power booster and Progold contact enhancer.

Mantis, I'm with you on ALL the confusion about the 6 million different versions of Deoxit.

Throw this out there for input...

I grabbed one of those 2 packs from the shack(contains 1-14g can of Deoxit-DN5(DN5MS-15) and 1-14g can of Deoxit Gold GN5(GN5MS-15)

The more I read the more I wonder if i picked up the correct stuff

So if i want to clean, say a volume knob(on the inside) or a speaker selector switch on an older receiver\amp, are these the correct ones?

The DN5 is just a cleaner though, correct? so no lube properties. Is the GN5(gold) designed to lube. I thought it was more of a, for lack of a better term, "contact enhancer" and acts as a bit of an anti-corrosive.(though it appears that it also offer a small cleaning action as well)

Sam Ash-yea, the Music Store sells some Deoxit products as well
They are DeOxit Cleaning Solution Spray(CD5) and CaiLube MCL Spray Lubricant(CMCL5SH6)

Would the CD5 work for cleaning POTS(Volume,Treble,Bass).
If cleaned with this would some type lube need to be used?

Just trying to get it "all" straight in my noodle before i wreck something

And at $15.00 for the shack 2 pack, there has got to be a less costly source...

Thanks

Ok, So I'll reply to my original post
But only so not to cloud the questions posed in it

Did a bit more searching and figured since Sam Ash sells Deoxit then maybe Guitar Center does as well. They do and at some VERY GOOD prices

HERE is a link to their offerings

for example
DeoxIT(D5S-6) 5oz Can-$12
DeoxIT FaderLube(F5_ 5oz can-$10

May find it a tad cheaper on-line but if you need it now, Guitar Center may be your answer and they sure have a lot more locations than PE

I stopped by Guitar Center on my way home from work tonight and yep there it was (Deoxit all flavors) on the wall, cheep too. Easy Breezy

The DN5 is just a cleaner though, correct?

Just to clear this up:

The "5" and "100" refer the percentage of cleaner in the deoxit. The stuff they use to dilute the deoxit to 5% can lift carbon traces in potentiometers.

The 5% deoxit is fine for metal-to-metal stuff like switches and selectors.

The 100% will safely clean potentiometers, but the Faderlube contains cleaner + lubricants that will help your potentiometer have a longer life.

If in doubt, buy the D100. Again, lots of info on this at caig's website. (Specific link to this topic on CAIG's Support pages.)

They carry Deoxit, and Deoxit Gold, at RadioShack.
It's a small twin pack.
I think I paid $14.
