Anticipation...

a few good watts
Don't you hate the wait? It's killin' me! :sigh:

I've got a deal in the works. It could be merely a good deal or it could be an absolutely, mind-blowingly awesome deal. Dang those fuzzy little CL pictures!!!

This time tomorrow night I should be able to tell you how this story ends...

Sorry we had to keep our phone conversation short yesterday Nate. I am really keeping my fingers crossed for you on this one :thmbsp:

Can't wait to hear the results!

Oh, and I don't mean this type of "fuzzy picture," either...

Stay tuned.

The rest of the story...

Well, it wasn't the goldmine I had hoped it might be. Nuts.

Here's the fuzzy picture I mentioned:

The CL ad said components were Pilot and Garrard. Best case scenario, of course I was hoping there might be a Pilot SA-232 amp hiding behind that tuner, and that the table would turn out to be a 301. High hopes, but you might as well dream big! :thmbsp:

What I got was a Pilot tube stereo receiver with EL84 outputs. It's a model 602, and the output iron is pretty puny compared to the 232. The Garrard is a model RC-3 Auto Turntable - "Type A," according to the Instruction manual that came with it. I assume it's nothing too special, and it looks pretty tired.

Once I get a few free minutes, I'll post pictures of the receiver if anyone's interested.

Not the amp you were hoping for but thats a sweet looking console. I have seen that Pilot receiver up close and personal and it looks to be a nice piece!

I guess you can't complain to much just finding a nice rig like that :thmbsp:

More pics!

Is it wrong for me to immediately liberate the receiver from its home of fifty years?

Right or wrong, here it is...
