The World's Best Speaker!

Nikko75

Listener and Music Lover
Those are the words of Perfect8, self proclaimed maker of the world's best speakers at any price. That is a very subjective statement by any manufacturer. http://www.perfect8.com/

The CUBE bookshelf speaker in the last picture is $16,000- $18,000. Appear to use drivers and components from Seas, WBT, Eton and Peerless so they should at least sound good but I won't defend that price.

It's BS, of course.

The World's Best Speaker is ALWAYS whatever any AK DIYer was working on last night, and it'll be even better when they tweak it just a bit more.

First one I made, I was 12 years old.

[Still tweaking it.... ]

..for a price tag like that them speakers better be able to change records for me or atleast make me a turkey pot pie while i listen to music,,, recockindiculously expensive!

The world's best to me right now are my own newly recapped B&W's. To anyone who doubts me, get off my cloud!:pistols:

Many clouds look alike, but this one is mine.

For that price, I can think of other services that it should provide, not the least of which is washing my Ducati! :D

Damn! I was getting set to build some just like that: gold 'n glass and sound "destined to equal history itself." Nearly identical in every way. Only I was gonna fill mine with Jello for dampening.

Maybe if I put neon lighting in the ... naw -- still too damned close. I'm scrapping the whole project. Back to the drawing board!

Now what'll I do with all this Jello ....?

I have to wonder what a glass enclosure sounds like... doesn't seem like it would be the best choice of material... I'd rather have concrete boxes..

Best Speakers in the World??

Give me a month, I should have them built by then. Line array, active cross-over, One of three subs (which ever works best...

There are some snooty audio companies who are really full of themselves, and there are some who are just full of ****. I've never seen one (till now) that was full of themselves AND ****.
Reading their breathless product descriptions, you'd think they were having a sexual experience while they were writing them...

For 16k -18k I could get something with a little meat that I know I would like. Plus have enough left over for some Mc gear to drive them. But, to each his own I guess.

Looks like most of the design effort and purchase price goes to fancy production materials that do little to nothing in relation to sound. I think these may belong to a new classification of speakers;

"Golden Van Kabukis"

Well, last century it was the Quad ESL57 ($52(pounds?) each when introduced) according to at least one mag.... I think if you have to tell people you have the world's best speaker you definitely don't have it. Wilson actually says the opposite (false modesty?) and I think they have awesome speakers.

:thumbsdn:

A few points I would not expect to bring up with $16k speakers.

1) Whats with the wheels? Surely the designer of a $16,000 speakers knows the properties of coupling the speakers to the floors...

2) Lets just throw out decades of engineering common sence and assume thatthe saound in a glass cabinet does not bounce around...This caould be the only reason for not using any damping material.

3)MDF is used by almost every manufacturer because it is stable and sonically dead... Wood exapands. plywood buzzes and so can concrete if ir becomes unstable and glass reflects sound thus needs to be damped. Not to mention the refractions on the outside of the cabinets.

The $300 dollar Seas woofers do not justify the price... Give me Thiel, Martin logan, or B&W any day...
