Klh 1001 Series Model Av4001

gkwolfman

USAF 1973-1980
I was at a friends house and heard these playing from his NIKKON amp, and these sounded pretty nice in the garage. Then he said they were for sale. Now, as also, I feel like I need any audio gear that for sale(album, tapes, gear, etc...). So, anyone know of these speakers and if they are worth the very very small payment. I found a photo of what they look like and some info of another model that almost fits this speaker(KLH RAVE-12). I never saw on the back what the Ohms were for these either? ? ?
12'' woof -- 5 1/4 mid --- 1 inch tweeter 3-way min 5-295 max

anyone .......anyhelp.......

hi Gary,
I have owned many KLH speaks and they were all nominally rated at 8 ohms. Your Xover points seem to dictate they'd be happiest between 4 & 8 ohm loads from the amplifier. The only way to be totally sure is to hook up a ohm meter at the back terminals and see where they float at:)

hy those have the same tweeter and midrange as the model 8840s. they are quite nice. mine played well with classical music. and can handle alot of power. not sure about your woofers though. on my old pair the woofs and magnets weighed as much as the cabinet. for 50 pounds total per side. the tweeter magnet on those is on the large side. but the midrange mag. is smaller. but they sound good for what they are.

made edit on model 880s to model 8840s. correct speaker model.

I could go for the 8 ohms. Also, I am lazy, if I can find my ohm meter, I thought of doing that, Thanks there to ya Big Tuna. Oh, I forgot , I am running them thru my SANSUI 719, playing Lp's and Maxell XLII-S tapes from the Eighties, and they sound good, both the speakers and the tapes.

I was playing some Little River Band music, and these speakers are sounding pretty good. Thanks on the classic info, I like playing some of that stuff, my wife's, once in awhile also. Thanks
