I've found one of these locally and am considering adding it to the herd--I've not found much info about it on the 'net or here, so I thought I'd ask to see if any of you here have one of these or have any experience with one of these amps.

Thanks,
Richard

No, but I think I have an example of the typewriter in your avatar! :-)

EDIT: I will check the one Scott brochure I have at home (from 1977) and post a scan if this model is in there. Should be at least OK, I would think!

OK, here's what I gots:

(sorry the quality's kind of meh)

The scan above is from the 1979 brochure... now wouldn't you like to have a Stack O' Scotts like this cover shot? I would...

Thanks.

The one I'm looking at doesn't have the optional rack mount handles but it looks clean from the photos I have. I'm not sure it's worth the asking price of $75 at this point but I might try making a lower offer to see if that will get it. It looks like a nice integrated amp. I wonder if it was made by Scott or if this was after the move to having it manufactured by others?

Yes, that would be a cool stack--especially all of the middle ones with tubes!

I have a Scott 480A - 85 watt Integrated with matching Tuner that I purchased new receipt date 10-16-78 . . . I've have used it as my main amp for all 30 years and never even had a lamp burn out on it! I run it through my recently rebuilt ESS AMT 1 speakers which I have owned since 1976 . . . It sounds great . . . it was built in Japan

I forgot to mention mine looks exactly like the one in the picture but with more switches . . . probably the same year or so . . . mine doesn't have the rack handles either

Hi,

The 420A is US designed but Japanese made by an OEM. Made for HH Scott's successor company which was German owned. HH Scott, Inc went into receivership in 1973 and was acquired by a German company (Schneider, IIRC). Very good performer but not up to the earlier HH Scott equipment.

Yep . . . that's her alright (480A) . . . It cost exactly 379.95 Plus matching tuner (570T) 219.95 grand total $629.90 . . . from Musicraft in Chicago it was a scary amount of money at the time . . . but here we are 30 years later and still kicking!! Cheers!!

I have a Scott 410A. Sounds pretty decent. I use it behind my computer. I never knew it could be racked. Tho I allways wondered what the covered holes on the sides are for. Would be nice to find some information about it (tho I think it is not very diffirent from the 420A).
