Got these at the GW today. Can anyone tell me what they are.
They are real walnut veneer. They are about 16 tall, 10 wide and 8 deep. The only tag on the back says 25 watt 8 ohms.

No other markings on them. I pulled the drivers and nothing marked there either. Allthough they do have some pretty reasonable magnets on them
Hmmm.......

Dont know, could be anything, old maggies, radio shack? somebody will help.... no numbers on the tweeter or woofer?

Hard to say. Many made phenolic tweeters like those (CTS, Foster, Pioneer). Look for an ID number on the drivers and that will help pinpoint whether they are American or imported.

I was thinkin' the Shack but there's something un-Shack-ish about that tweeter... :scratch2: Let's see the jack plate!

The phenolic appears to have a 3/4" VC (common to Pioneer) rather than the 1/2" VC common to Foster, which is what Rat Shak used.

OK. Maybe that's what it is. Also, some of those Optimus and Nova speakers used multiple tweeters which is what makes this look less like a Shack to me.

Here is what I have.
There are no numbers on the woofer , guess I should have included a pic of it anyway.

I was kinda getting a Sylvania vibe myself. That gold trim around the baffle was the hint. Mine have that, except that it's part of the grill on mine.

Part of a system? I'm thinking Sylvania too. To me the give away is the coax connector comon to Sylvania systems from late 1960's and early 1970's :)

The tweeter was built in 1970, per the EIA code. Can't find 587 in any of the code lists I have, though.
FB45DP70-06F is definitely a Pioneer part number. The first "F" indicates it is Ferrofluid cooled (not likely in 1970), the "45" is the cone diameter in millimeters, and the "70" would be the magnet weight in ounces without a decimal point between the "7" and the "0" (a 7 ounce magnet).

I have no idea who made the cabinets or the woofers.

They sound very good, very good indeed. They are book shelfs so they don't go quite as low as I would like, but they have some very nice clarity and highs. The bass it does have is nice and tight too. I would think it is something like 60hz(maybe a little higher) for the bottom end.

I saw your link - anyone got a link to the vintage EPI emblems???

I need to run back to GW today anyway, so I think I'll swing by the SA and grab the three-ways. Worst case, I'm out $10. Once they're in hand I'll try to figure out if they are from the same manufacturer - and who that might be.
