I found these little babies (JBL L50's) at a thrift yesterday for $47. They look to be in great condition and in need of refoaming. I love foam surrounds!! They are the cause for a lot of wonderful speaker scroes. If the foams have deteriorated dump them!!! :yes:

They were sitting on these beautiful little JBL stands which even sweetened the deal even more. I haven't tried them out and won't till I refoam. The grills are in awesome condition as are the cabs, hardly a scratch with the hang tags as shown in the picture. Anyone else have a pair of these? My great room is looking like the showroom at Pacific Stereo used to . . . not a bad thing ah? and my wife loves these little guys, I guess she feels sorry for them. :thmbsp:

Wow some nice stuff there. And it does appear you have picked up some nice pieces previously. Just finished refoaming my recently aquired L166 and I like what I hear. The stands and grills on those are killer.
 
Nice score indeed... just the stands usually go for over $100 in auctions.

It's been a long time since I heard a pair of L50's, but we sold a lot of them back in the day. The little brother to the L100 basically. I was never a huge fan of that particular coned tweeter - liked the 044 dome tweeter a lot better.

Nice price. Nice stands, too.

They sound much better with the grilles off, and as noted the tweets don't quite compete with domes, but to me they beat the L100 cones (the crossovers are also better than those in L100s). Do these have the 127A AlNiCo woofs?

bet with new foam, "Three of a Perfect Pair" will be sounding just right...ok, then "Starless and Bible Black"...or maybe "Prince Rupert Awakes"?..surely "Indoor Games" then....:music::thmbsp:
 
Great sounding set, when you do the surrounds , you might make sure you get them on the right side of the cone. they good ones.

I'm not sure . . . I didn't remove the woofers yet. That makes sense removing the grills with the metal inside, thanks Bob

The stands are cool. Big $$$ on the auction sites, yes. I missed a pair on the local CL for $25. They have the dimensions for them on LHF forum, so I made two pair. Great score on your L50's.
 
Very nice pick-up Bob! You are getting to be a JBL guy all round it looks like from those pics. Congrats. Nice stands too those are big bucks and hard to find.
