Christmas 1962

It was Christmas morning 1962 when I awoke to find that Santa had left this for me next to the Christmas tree.

My father loved music and wanted to encourage me to listen to music as well. He had given me a small box-type record player a few years earlier, and he decided to "dial it up a notch. As a result, he arranged for Santa to bring me this.

I have only ever seen one other like it, and it is on a German website about vintage jukeboxes.

Like many of us, it is a survivor. It resides in the 70salesguy Museum of Modern Electronics now.

Too Kewl !! Christmas, 1962, I was 5, & DEATHLY sick w/one of the horrible maladies that affect kids at that age-Prolly a bad cold, sore throat, epizudicks, whatever. Anyhow, my Dad picked me up outta bed, & carried me down the hall to the living room-And under the tree was a Sony 5-303W 5" TV...It kindled a life-long love affair/fascination w/TVs that continues to this day. But THAT far-off day, I was so puny 'n' sick, I just said, "That's nice. Take me back to bed..." & it was several days before I could really appreciate the little fella...

Now that is just too cool. On Christmas morning 1962 I was 9 years old. I don't remember much about it other than I know I was a very excited youngster. I would have flipped if I had found that sitting by the tree. And no, I didn't still believe in in Santa, but I sure loved Christmas.

Thanks for sharing your memories and collection.

This was what I had in the the 70's......... it's long gone, but I found this picture on Ebay.

I wish I still had it...... I loved playing my Davy Crockett record on it :yippy:

Christmas 1979 or 80 Santa left me a Technics sa 200 to replace the lloyds
or whatever it was I had listened to since about 1974. So here I am and the
Technics has worked for 30 years with only one pot needing cleaning a few
years ago. Have upgraded to Marantz and e-waves but plan to use the old
Technics tommorow at our end of season deer camp party to power some
kustom dj cabs. It was the gift that keeps on giving.:thmbsp: Thanks Dad
