I will bring more detail later, but my audio friend just called after leaving a GW with a Marantz 2252. Hopefully it's fully functional. Can't wait to hear!
I didnt see where the friend was buying that on thrift-a-holics behalf. Regardless, may I take this opportunity to congratualate all concerned, and will keep my fingers crossed that shes a runner.
It is a runner, and it is not for me, as my friend is an audio guy, and pretty dang pleased with himself right now. He said the only thing "wrong" is a single burnt out turner dial face bulb. He said that he gives it an 8 of 10 for visual condition, but I based on what he said it will be at least a 9 after it is cleaned and the wood case is re-stained. Hopefully I will post some pics soon.
I replaced all the display lights and the FM Stereo grain of sand lamp. Cleaned all the pots and buttons and it works great! Restained the the wood case too! That's what's more impressive about this...came with the wood case too! Really is a 9/10. Found the matching 5010 tape deck w/ wood case too! Need belts for it though...if anyone knows how I can get them, let me know.
And by the way thanks TAH for starting this thread!

Hope you got a GREAT deal on it.Me personally,I love all the score stories on here.I know how excited I get when I make a score(and I'm 54),makes me feel like a little kid.One of the best parts of the hobby I think :thmbsp:
I don't think that Marantz sold much in Florida. I never see any Marantz stuff anywhere here on CL or in the TSs. That is one gorgeous unit. I am truly envious. Enjoy.
The 2252B is a very nice sounding and looking reciever. I have mine hooked up right now to a pair of technics sb7000a's. That little reciever sounds better on them than the separates that I was driving them with.
