hello audiophiles.
this is something i must share with whoever.
i live in west palm beach ,fl
i grew up in downtown orlando. i started collecting old stereo gear when i was 9 years old. back then fresh in my hobby and learning about something new i would take ANYTHING i could get my hands on, receivers reel to reels 8-tracks turntables speakers consoles whatever. and i guess where i grew up i was geographicly blessed because old stereo stuff back then was everyware dirt cheap! im talkin 15 years ago when 1970s stereo equipment was considerd junk and 1950s-60s tube stuff was considerd dangerous old garbage to most! i scooped up stuff constantly! old marantz, sansui, fisher, mcintosh, pioneer, etc. in thrift stores for "if you buy this ugly old sx-1250 for $10, ill throw in this fisher 500c and these ratty altec speakers just to get rid of it" style! I MISS THOSE DAYS!!!
i kept allmost everything i got! i only sold off a few dozen or so peices.
when i was 11 or 12 my dad gave me the 2 car detached garage at his house to use as my workshop. i filled it to the rafters with stuff! when i turned 16 and got my first car and was more intrested in smoking grass and chasing women than old stereo gear. and the garage was locked forgotten. sad huh?
--------------fast forward to 2010-----------------------
over the last 10 years i grew up moved away fell into drug addiction and lost everything twice. than a few years ago i started playing with old stereo stuff again. im back on the hunt once again just like the old days hitting thrift shops, garage sales, trash-picking relentlessly seeking that next fix!!
a sansui 5000a or the allusive hh scott 399 tube receiver is right around the corner! anyway my dads business went bust and he is loosing everything.
thus comes up the garage once again! he is selling his 1920s dutch colonial with the 2-car garage where my old gear is. im going up to orlando in two days with a u-haul to reconnect with my childhood stereo collection! it is just as i left it 10 years ago! my old workshop, tools, gear its all still there. i will be moving 300+ vintage stereo receivers i plucked from garage sales and trash pyles so many years ago. and bringing them all to my home in west palm!!!!
