Any notions about what kind of University these are?

Interesting looking coax. Looks like the enclosure is generic. The outlines I guess are potential cutouts for a 3 way.

re: the enclosure, I think so. I've been looking around a little at hifilit.com, and found this. The proportions from the photo suggest, to me at least, that it's a 12". Maybe the 312?

Hi Watt,

Nice find on the University. I own several University drivers (mostly 6201's).
I think you are correct, I believe what you have pictured is a University 312. The University's are NICE sounding drivers especially when combined with a simple Tube Amp and some Classic Jazz! Enjoy.

Regards,
SixCats!

Got up bright and early this morning to go have a look at these, and the short version of the story is that they have some problems: tears in the cones (the worst about 1 1/2 inch running from the surround to the mid portion of one driver), cabinets separating at the seams. So I passed. A little disappointing, as I've been curious about something more like a single point source, since I tend to run time-aligned speakers. And I have a pair of Dynaco Mk IV clones that would have done nicely. O well, at least I learned something from researching them and your comments here. Thanks.

Sorry to hear that they were rough. The one I found last week is like brand new, but unfortunately there was only one. The cabinets look to be University Kwikits. What kind of money were they asking?

$75.00

One was missing the grille, too

That also looks identical to the University UCX-123 speakers I have?
I've been running mine with a rebuilt Magnavox 8802 amplifier.

Yep, those were the ones.

refud, if you're interested in these, I'd be glad to pick up and ship. I do think you could probably find this driver elsewhere in better condition, but I thought I'd offer nonetheless. PM me if you want details.

Thanks Watt but I think I'll hold out for ones in better shape. I really only need one. Thanks much for offering though!
